Qualifying: 102nd Met Junior & 51st MGA Boys

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (June 20, 2019) -- Concurrent qualifying rounds for the 102nd Met Junior Championship Sponsored by MetLife and the 51st MGA/MetLife Boys Championship take place June 20 through July 1 at four sites across the Met Area, as players look to advance to Southward Ho Country Club in Bay Shore, N.Y., for the Junior, July 17-19, and directly into match play for the Boys at Bedford Golf & Tennis Club in Bedford, N.Y., Aug. 1-2.

As the nation's oldest junior championship, the Met Junior has produced a number of winners who have gone on to outstanding achievements on both the regional and national levels. Past winners of the Mandeville Trophy include Butch and Bill Harmon, Marc Turnesa, Andrew Svoboda, Mike Miller, David Pastore, and Cameron Young.

June 20 - Osiris Country Club, Walden, N.Y.
Qualifying Places: Junior: 9 & ties | Boys: 3 & 1 Alternate
Results
Jimin Jung of Trump Nationa Golf Club - Westchester and Raymond Gresalfi of Beekman both carded even-par 72s to claim medalist honors, leading 11 total competitors to the 102nd Met Junior Championship. Meanwhile, Tyler Donnelan of Greenwich shot 2-over 74 to medal in qualifying for the 51st MGA Boys, while also qualifying for the Met Junior.

June 20 - Hawk Pointe Golf Club, Washington, N.J.
Qualifying Places: Junior: 17 & ties | Boys: 5 & 1 Alternates
Results
Shawn Blandine of Black Bear carded an impressive 4-under 68 to medal by three shots and advance to Southward Ho Country Club for the 102nd Met Junior. Six competitors came in at 1-under to advance as well, with 18 players in all advancing with scores of 2-over 74 or better. Tyler Lee of Ridgewood and Reed Greyserman of Crestmont both carded 72s to lead the way in MGA Boys qualifying, as five players moved on to Bedford Golf & Tennis Club.

June 24 - Southampton Golf Club, Southampton, N.Y.
Qualifying Places: Junior: 16 & ties | Boys: 5 & 1 Alternate
Results
Will Lodge of Country Club of Darien claimed medalist honors in punching his ticket to both Southward Ho and Bedford, leading all qualifying competitors with a 2-under 68. In all, 19 players advanced to Southward Ho with scores of 5-over 75 or better. Five total competitors advanced to Bedford with scores of 86 or better.

July 1 - Wiltwyck Golf Club, Kingston, N.Y.
Qualifying Places: Junior: 8 & ties | Boys: 2 & 1 Alternate
Results
Doug Beney of Rye, N.Y., carded a 2-over 74 to lead eight qualifiers to Southward Ho Country Club. Donte Groppuso of Kingston, N.Y., and Max Vanson of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., both tallied 3-over 75s, with the remainder of the qualifiers shooting 80 or better. In Boys qualifying, Sam O'Hara of Rye, N.Y., and Zachary Shallat of Dix Hills, N.Y., carded rounds of 5-over 77 and 9-over 81 to advance to Bedford Golf & Tennis.
