Qualifying: 73rd MGA Public Links Championship

The par-3 15th at Pound Ridge Golf Club

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 7, 2021) -- The MGA's Public Links Championship returns to the schedule in 2021, with its highly anticipated stop at Pound Ridge Golf Club on June 17. This will be the Pete Dye-designed layout's first time hosting an MGA event and will surely provide an outstanding venue for determining the region's top public links player.

This year, five qualifying rounds took place throughout the Met Area between May 10 and May 24, completing the field for the 36-hole championship.

May 10 - Soldier Hill GC, Emerson, N.J.
Qualifying Positions: 5 & ties
Kyle Sullivan of MGA eClub - NJ took home medalist honors with a 1-under 70. Jake Ivan Paul of Sterling Farms shot even-par 71 to advance, while James Kienz of MGA eClub - Hudson Valley (+5/76), Jonathan Farber of MGA eClub - Long Island (+5/76), KJ Kim of MGA eClub NJ (+6/77) and Grey Miller of MGA eClub - NYC (+6/77) all qualified for the championship as well.

May 17 - Rock Spring GC, West Orange, N.J.
Qualifying Positions: 9 & ties
Robert McHugh of Darlington recorded the only under-par score of the day with a 2-under 68 at Rock Spring. Carter Nunez of MGA eClub - N.J. and Gavin Rau of Neshanic Valley qualified with scores of 2-over 72. Six other players qualified with scores of 3-over 73.

May 18 - Van Cortlandt GC, Bronx, N.Y.
Qualifying Positions: 6 & ties
MGA eClub - NYC member Noah Pilipski medaled at Van Cortlandt Park, shooting 3-over 73. Pilipski is the three-time club champion at Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course and used his knowledge of the course to best the field. Pilipski and six other players advanced to Pound Ridge Golf Club.

May 20 - Bethpage State Park (Blue), Farmingdale, N.Y.
Qualifying Positions: 16 & ties
Joseph Busiello of Pine Hills along with Eric Bleile of Sterling Farms picked up co-medalist honors at Bethpage Blue, shooting 2-under 72. Busiello, a junior at St. John's University, had experience at Bethpage on his side. Bleile made his trip from Connecticut worthwhile, performing well ehough to tie atop the leaderboard.

May 24 - Sterling Farms GC, Stamford, Conn.*
Qualifying Positions: 9 & ties
Erik Stauderman of Casperkill used a trio of birdies and an eagle to shoot even-par 71 and lead 10 players on to Pound Ridge. The round also led the St. Bonaventure golfer to earning the 22nd WGA Public Links Championship.
