Qualifying: U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 19, 2022) -- The 8th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be played at the Kiawah Island Club in Kiawah Island, S.C., in 2023. The MGA will conduct two sectional qualifiers in the Met Area this fall - one at Laurel Links Country Club on Long Island and the other at Silver Spring Country Club in Connecticut.

September 19 - Laurel Links Country Club, Mattituck, N.Y.
The first qualifying position was claimed by Adam Pecora of Oyster Bay, N.Y., and Thomas Finn of Locust Valley, N.Y., who earned medalists honors after recording a round of 9-under. One stroke behind at 8-under 63 was Trevor Randolph of Franklin Lakes, N.J., and Darin Goldstein of New York, N.Y. -- they claimed the second and final qualifying position. With two groups tied at 7-under 64, a playoff determined the alternate positions. Ben Carpenter of Darien, Conn., and Robert You of Las Vegas, Nev., earned the first alternate position after making birdie on 16 to win the first playoff hole. Corey Marshall of Webster, N.Y., and Sean Paul Owen of Horseheads, N.Y., claimed the second alternate position.

October 3 - Silver Spring Country Club, Ridgefield, Conn.
Brad Tilley of Easton, Conn., and Pat Wilson of Andover, N.J., claimed the first qualifying spot and medalist honors after recording a 7-under round in chilly conditions. Two strokes behind them, Thomas McCarthy of New York, N.Y., and Michael Lewis of Millburn, N.J., were able to secure the second spot thanks to a solid 5-under round. They claimed the final qualifying position from the event. Richard Dowling III of New York, N.Y., and Nick Taylor of Shelton, Conn. were just one stroke back of the second place team, earning themselves first alternate positions. A three-way tie at 2-under meant a playoff was required for the second and final alternate spot. In the end it was Timothy and Daniel Murphy of Fairfield, Conn., who came out on top to claim the final alternate spots.
