ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 21, 2019)  It's no secret that the Met Area is rich in golf, both in the quantity and quality of its courses. If there were need for any proof, GOLF's latest Top 100 Courses in the World listing is scattered with Met Area clubs – showing that the region is one of the most golf rich locations not only in the United States, but in the world.

Thanks to golf's deep roots in the region, many of the Met Area's selections have been stalwarts among the world's best. Here's how GOLF ranks them for 2020-21:

5. National Golf Links of America
18. Fishers Island
23. Winged Foot (West)
26. Friar's Head
42. Somerset Hills
47. Garden City Golf Club
53. Bethpage Black
62. Winged Foot (East)
64. Maidstone
74. Quaker Ridge
76. Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow was a newcomer to the list following its completed renovation by Gil Hanse that focused on giving the entire course a C.B. Macdonald feel. The renovation was even cited as the best in the world in the last five years by GOLF. Meanwhile, Somerset Hills made a big leap in the listing, moving up 33 spots.

GOLF also offers up an additional 50 courses in no particular order, with six more Met Area clubs among those listed: Baltusrol (Lower), Baltusrol (Upper), Piping Rock, Plainfield, Ridgewood (East/West), The Creek.
