Second Stage of Web.com Tour Q-School Concludes

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 12, 2016) - David Pastore of Greenwich, Conn., became the fourth Met Area competitor to advance to the Final Stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying School, which takes place December 8-11 at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Fla.

After jumping up the leaderboard with his 7-under 65 in the third round on Friday, Pastore posted a 3-under 69 on Saturday for a 72-hole total of 14-under 274. The 2014 MGA Player of the Year tied for 17th at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, claiming one of the final positions that advance to the final stage.

Cameron Wilson of Rowayton, Conn., easily advanced from Southern Hills Plantation in Brooksville, Fla. The 2009 MGA Player of the Year carded rounds of 69-69-68-72 en route to a 10-under total and a tie for fifth. The top 18 qualifying positions and ties advanced to the finals. This is Wilson's second time in the last three years that Wilson will advance to the finals.

Marc Turnesa and Deepdale assistant professional Ben Polland also advanced to the final stage, doing so from Plantation Preserve Golf Course in Plantation, Fla. Turnesa tied for 11th at 7-under (70-67-68-72), while Polland was among the final competitors advancing, tying for 18th at 6-under (67-68-73-70). Former MGA/MetLife Boys champion Sunny Kim narrowly missed out on advancing, finishing at 5-under.

David Pastore of Greenwich, Conn., will look to join the trio in the Florida finale. Pastore is competing Second Stage at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The 2014 MGA Player of the Year fired a 7-under 65 in Friday's third round to jump up the leaderboard and enters the final round tied for 15th at 11-under. The top 19 qualifiers and ties will advance to the finals.

Recent Assistant PGA Professional Championship winner Ben Polland is looking for more success in the Sunshine State, as he competes at Plantation Preserve in Plantation, Fla., November 8-11. The Deepdale assistant and 100th Met Open champion competed at the same site in 2015 but did not advance to the finals. Sunny Kim, the 2004 MGA/MetLife Boys champion who now resides in Florida, is also teeing it up at Plantation Preserve, as is Marc Turnesa.

Cameron Wilson of Rowayton, Conn., is competing at Southern Hills Plantation in Brooksville, Fla., Nov. 8-11. This is Wilson's third straight year competing at the Second Stage site. Though the 2009 MGA Player of the Year advanced to the finals in 2014, he did not do so last year.

David Pastore of Greenwich, Conn., the 2014 MGA Player of the Year, had an exemption to the Second Stage thanks to his play on the Mackenzie Tour (PGA TOUR Canada) this summer, where he earned his first professional win at the Niagara Championship. He's playing at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, Nov. 9-12 and is seeking his third straight trip to the Final Stage.

Though Mike Miller of Brewster, N.Y., and Ryan McCormick of Middletown, N.J, both earned spots in the Second Stage and were slated to compete at Plantation Preserve, both were forced to withdraw after making a run at the Second Stage of Qualifying School for the European Tour. Both were in the field at Lumine Golf & Beach Club in Tarragona, Spain, and narrowly missed advancing to the finals when the fourth round concluded on Nov. 7. Miller carded a 6-under total for the event, tying for 15th but missing out on a top-18 advancing position in a playoff. McCormick missed the playoff by one shot with a 5-under total over the four days of competition.

Sean Kelly of Staten Island, N.Y., who also played on the Mackenzie Tour this summer, competed in the Nov. 1-4 Second Stage, but did not advance.
