Trio Leads 17 Qualifiers from Marine Park for 72nd MGA Public Links

Neshanic Valley Golf Course will host the MGA Public Links Championship for the second time, June 13.


BROOKLYN, N.Y. (May 15, 2019) -- Jason Zaretsky of Douglaston, Mike Marotta of South Shore and MGA eClub - NYC member Tadhg O'Connor each carded rounds of 1-under 71 on Wednesday at Marine Park Golf Course, earning their spot in the 72nd MGA Public Links Championship. In all, 17 players earned starting times at Neshanic Valley Golf Course for the championship proper on June 13.

Zaretsky had the steadiest day, carding two birdies to just one bogey to go along with 15 pars. O'Connor registered nines of 35-36 for his 71, while Marotta tallied five birdies on the day including four on the inward nine which led to a closing 33.

MGA eClub - NYC member Matthew Rendell posted the lone round of even-par, while remaining qualifiers carded rounds of 4-over 76 or better to advance.

The MGA Public Links Championship stands as the nation's oldest public links championship. The championship this year returns to Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J., for the first time since 2007.
