Watson leads 12 Ike qualifiers from Panther Valley

ALLAMUCHY, N.J. (May 15, 2018) – Qualifying for the 63rd Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship Presented by Callaway continued today at Panther Valley Golf & Country Club. A total of 12 players punched their tickets to the June 25 and 26 championship at Meadow Brook Club in Jericho, N.Y.

MGA eClub – Hudson Valley member Andrew Watson earned medalist honors on the day thanks to an impressive round of even-par 70. Watson capitalized on Panther Valley’s par fives, making eagles on both occasions.
Linus Yip of Fiddler’s Elbow followed just two shots behind at 2-over 72.
Two players safely qualified with rounds of 3-over 73, including 2014 Carter Cup champion Erick Alonso of Knickerbocker and MGA eClub – New Jersey member Leo Lee.
ChanYoung Park of Edgewood earned his spot at Meadow Brook thanks to a round of 4-over 74, while seven players took the remaining qualifying positons: Josh Kienz of Otterkill, Eric Bleile of Sterling Farms, Alex Kyriacou of Spook Rock, Niall Handley of Essex Fells, Mark Costanza of Hamilton Farm, Brett Inserra of Manhattan Woods, and Jimmy Apostolico, Jr. of Newton.
Panther Valley played to a par 70 at 6,605 yards to a starting field of 54 players.
Four qualifiers remain for the 63rd Ike Championship, with the next two taking place Monday, May 21 at Deal Golf & Country Club in Deal, N.J., and Tuesday, May 22 at Redding Country Club in Redding, Conn.
