In Theaters Nationwide, April 14

Those in the Met Area have the opportunity to attend a special New York City premiere on Wednesday, April 12 at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square (68th and Broadway). The premiere benefits The First Tee of Metropolitan New York and multiple ticket options are available.

After debuting in Scotland last summer and showing at several film festivals through the fall, Tommy’s Honour will soon have its U.S. premiere on April 14. Golf fans won’t want to miss this dramatic film that depicts the true story of golf pioneers Old Tom Morris and Young Tom Morris.

The film, based upon the award-winning book of the same name, centers around the father-son duo and the founding of the modern game of golf in Scotland in the mid-1800s. It shares the triumphs and struggles in their relationship while also portraying societal conflicts of the era. Tommy’s Honour was filmed entirely on location, displaying the stunning landscapes of Scotland.

Jack Lowden stars as Young Tom, while Peter Mullan plays Old Tom—with both receiving praised reviews for their performances. Ophelia Lovibond depicts Young Tom’s love interest Meg Drinnen, while Sam Neill is Alexander Boothby, the Captain of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.

Tommy’s Honour has been well accepted and received many positive reviews, especially from those from the world of golf. Says Jim Nantz of the film, “Tommy’s Honour is a beautiful tribute to the game. I felt like we were dropped out of a time machine and given the chance ‘to feel’ what golf was like over a century and a half ago.”

The film was directed by Jason Connery (son of Sean Connery) and Ken Whitney, chairman of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, is one of several producers for the film. Upon its debut, it won Best Feature Film at the 2016 BAFTA Scotland Awards.
