Ike Qualifying Continues at Plandome

Plandome, N.Y. (May 22, 2017) – Qualifying for the 62nd MGA Ike Stroke Play Championship Presented by Callaway continued today at Plandome Country Club in Plandome, N.Y. A total of 24 players qualified for the MGA’s stroke play championship on June 26 and 27 at Century Country Club in Purchase, N.Y.

Sam Goldenring of Brooklake battled rainy conditions to earn medalist honors and a spot at Century with a round of 1-over 72.

Coming in close behind were, Linus Yip of Fiddler’s Elbow and Jay Linn Card III of Gardiners Bay with cards of 2-over 73.

Qualifying with scores of 3-over 74 were Dave Segot of Nassau Players, Andrew Chambers of Maidstone and Ryan Davis of New Jersey National.

Johnny Schob of Winged Foot and Colin Warren of Rockville Links safely qualified thanks to rounds of 4-over 75.

Bradley Rock Jr. of Wheatley Hills and Gen Nagai of Rolling Green both advanced to the championship after carding rounds of 5-over 76.

Fourteen players took the remaining qualifying positions: Russ Aue of Nassau Players (77) , John Morgan of Canoe Brook (77), Christopher O’Keefe of Bethpage State Park (77), Christopher Gabriele of Mill River (77), Jordan Kaplan of Pine Hollow (77), Colby Anderson of Montauk Downs (77), Conor Casey of Somerset Hills (78), Thomas Whelan of Smithtown Landing (78), Clancy Waugh of Deepdale (78), Jason Zaretsky of Douglaston (78), Christopher White of Garden City Golf Club (78), Brett Cyrgalis of Plandome (78), William Parker of The Creek (78), and Daniel Gordon of North Hempstead (78).

Plandome played to a par 71 at 6,511 yards for a field of 120 players.

The Ike, the MGA’s stroke play championship is a 54 hole event open to amateur golfers with a Handicap Index not exceeding 5.0. Today’s qualifying round was the last of five qualifying rounds throughout the Met Area to determine the final field.
