18-Hole Playoff Will Determine 24th MGA Father & Son Net Champions

HAWORTH, N.J. (August 15th, 2013) –Today at the 24th MGA Father Son Net Championship at White Beeches Golf and Country Club in Haworth, N.J., there was a tie in the amateur division for low net winner, setting up an 18-hole playoff to be determined at a later date. Prizes were awarded for the low net, low net runner-up and third place for the amateur division.

SCARBOROUGH, N.Y. (August 14, 2013) – After the first round of play at the 50th Williamson Cup at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, N.Y., it is the MGA in the lead, looking to capture their third consecutive victory. There are 10 total golf associations in today’s competition and each team consists of four players. Team score is determined by taking the top three scores per 18 holes in the 36-hole competition.

Securing her spot in the next round first was Nicole Morales of South Salem, N.Y., winning her match 2 and 1. She will play tomorrow at 8:20 a.m. against 20th seed Casie Cathrea of Livermore, Calif.

GREENWICH, CONN. (August 1, 2013) – The 111th Met Amateur Championship at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn. is underway and players have completed their first round. A few competitors got off to hot starts, but a steady rainfall beginning shortly before 11 a.m. provided a much more difficult back nine for the field of 59 players. The top 16 after 36 holes of play will move on to the match play portion of the tournament.

(July 31, 2013) – The MGA’s 11th Carter Cup is underway at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. and the Met Area’s top junior players are through their first round in this 36-hole Junior Stroke Play Championship. The first half of play was conducted on Baltusrol’s Upper Course, which played as a par 71 (35-36) to 6,921 yards.

Liu was the low local, firing a sensational 8-under 63 in the second round to finish T4. Miller ended up in 7th after shooting a pair of 70s.
