Elmsford, N.Y. - J.J. Henry’s strong play continued this weekend as the Fairfield, CT native shot rounds of 67-69-67-68 to finish tied for 10th at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship played at the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. Henry’s nine-under-par finish earned him $148,800 bringing his 2005 total to $454,113, 72nd on the PGA Tour Money List.

Helped by freshman Michael Quagliano of White Plains, NY, the 2003 MGA Junior Champion, the Duke Men’s golf team captured their first ACC Championship since 1966.

 

Widely considered one of the strongest conferences in the country but thanks to the likes of Wake Forest and Georgia Tech, who have produced numerous PGA Tour players in recent years, Duke’s achievement is certainly one which Quagliano (t-24th 75-75-76) and his teammates are proud of.

MGA 2005 Tournament Season Begins: Woodway to Host MGA Senior Amateur

 

The Metropolitan Golf Association’s 2005 tournament season kicks off with the 78th MGA Senior Amateur Championship at Woodway Country Club in Darien, CT, on Monday-Tuesday, May 9-10. 

 

The MGA Senior Amateur is open to players 55 years of age or older with USGA Handicap Indexes of 9.0 or less.  The field of 200 will play 18 holes on Monday, after which the field is cut to the low 20 scores and ties, who advance to 18 holes on Tuesday.  Prizes will be awarded to the overall winner, and also in each of four age categories.

(April 15, 2005)—Nick Faldo, winner of six major championships and a member of 11 Ryder Cup teams, will be recognized for his outstanding achievements by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association at their 54th National Awards Dinner on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at the Hilton Rye Town in Rye Brook, New York.  The Hall of Famer will receive the Gold Tee Award, the MGWA’s highest honor.
