Globetrotter: Maryna Yankovska's Education Through Travel

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 10, 2023) – Despite working this summer at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in an industry and area she had never explored, Maryna Yankovska was not out of her comfort zone. The senior in college has had more international experience than many people get in their lives. Yankovska, who was born and raised in central Ukraine, has had what you could call a global education.

Youth On Course Taking Off In Met Area

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 3, 2023) -- As part of the continued mission to grow the game of golf, the MGA Foundation is celebrating the opportunities provided for juniors with a Youth on Course Membership. YOC members played over 3,500 rounds this season in the Metropolitan Area, almost 600 more than last year. As the YOC program grows both nationally and, in the Met Area, so to do the stories of how golf has helped shape young lives.

Student To Teacher: Emily Bui's GOLFWORKS Story

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (January 20, 2023) – For many years now, the MGA and First Tee of Metropolitan New York have partnered through the GOLFWORKS program to help offer young men and women employment at the First Tee. Commonly, golfers who started as participants in the First Tee program will then come back to assist as counselors and coaches once they have progressed through the program. Emily Bui, who is 15 years old, completed her first year as an instructor for the First Tee site at Mosholu.

Many who participate in the program express how much an internship has helped them grow. Ben Cruz, a second-year intern at Bonnie Briar Country Club, shared that his experience in the GOLFWORKS program has helped him shape his future.

A Hollywood Story: Kateryna Poltoratska's Journey From Ukraine To GOLFWORKS

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 15, 2022) – Kateryna Poltoratska, or Kate, first came to the United States when she was in high school. As part of her school curriculum, she studied for a year in the U.S., while living with a host family. Currently Kate is studying at Berea College, a small Liberal Arts college in Berea, Ky., that offers full tuition scholarships to all its students. Poltoratska recently finished a summer internship in the GOLFWORKS program at Hollywood Golf Club.

MGA Places Second In 57th Williamson Cup

ALEXANDRIA, VA (August 10, 2022) – The MGA placed second in the playing of the 57th Williamson Cup at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, VA. Finishing six shots back of the Washinton Metropolitan Golf Association, the MGA recorded its best finish in the event since a win in 2015. The MGA finished with a team score of 12-over, while the WMGA finished with a 6-over final score.

MGA Competes In Williamson Cup At Belle Haven

ALEXANDRIA, VA (August 8, 2022) – On Tuesday, the MGA will compete in the Williamson Cup at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Virginia.

The Williamson Cup is a highly regarded junior event, squaring off 10 northeast golf associations against each other in a 36-hole stroke play format. Four juniors represent each association, with the best three scores from each round counting toward the team's overall score.
