SCARBOROUGH, N.Y. (August 25, 2011)– The final day of the 96th Met Open Championship sponsored by MetLife was a story of conquering adversity. Mother Nature threw a curveball, bringing lightning and occasionally heavy rains that resulted in a nearly three-hour suspension of play.

Forty-year-old professional David Schuster of Haverstraw shot an opening-round, four-under-par 66 to lead the field of 144 in the Met Area’s premier event for professionals and amateurs, boasting a $150,000 purse.
