(July 29, 2014) – A field of 78 golfers played at Hollow Brook Golf Club today at the Sectional Qualifying Round for the 99th Met Open Championship, with hopes of being one of the 8 golfers (plus ties) to qualify. The field was playing for a chance to compete in the championship at Trump National - Bedminster on August 19-21.
UPDATED: 3:55 p.m., August 6 - In a match that needed the last hole to be decided, Taylor Totland of Tinton Falls, N.J. came up just short in her first round match at the U.S. Women's Amateur. Totland lost 1 down to Kristen Gillman of Austin, Texas. The match was all square through 16 holes and then Gillman birdied the 17th, and both players parred the 18th.

(July 28, 2014) – The MGA Foundation’s cornerstone internship program, GOLFWORKS, provides meaningful summer working experiences at Met Area clubs to more than 200 deserving high school students each year. Now in its 20th year, the success of the GOLFWORKS program can be attributed to the willingness of MGA member clubs to hire very deserving teenagers, many of whom have never considered working at a golf club, like second-year intern Josu Trevejo, who works at Bonnie Briar Country Club in Larchmont, N.Y.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (July 28, 2014) - The MGA’s oldest amateur championship returns July 31-August 3 when 66 of the area’s best will play in the 
112th Met Amateur. The championship returns to The Creek in Locust Valley, N.Y., for the first time in nine years where it was won by Ron Vannelli in 2005.

(July 25, 2014) - Historic Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., will play host to the 12th Carter Cup on Wednesday, July 30, when the top Met Area juniors, age 18 and under, will play for the trophy. Some of the best local young talent will take on the Upper and Lower courses at Baltusrol in the MGA’s 36-hole stroke play competition.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (July 24, 2014) - Two-time MGA Player of the Year Mike Miller of Knollwood won the Lenox Advisers New York State Open Championship today at Bethpage Black with a 54-hole total of 8-under 205. This is Miller's first win as a professional and he earned it in style, firing rounds of 69, 71, and a 65 in the third round to secure the victory. The 22-year-old from Brewster, N.Y., got into the field on a sponsor's exemption and took full advantage, winning the tournament by four shots.
FAR HILLS, N.J. (July 23, 2014) – An enthusiastic group of more than 80 young golfers took part in the year's first MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic, hosted by the USGA at their headquarters in Far Hills, N.J. Groups were on hand from The First Tee of Metropolitan New York’s Plainfield West and Essex County facilities, as well as New Jersey’s First Tee of Raritan Valley.
