Entry Deadline for MGA/MetLife Public Links is May 27

May 22, 2009 — Public golfers across the Met Area still have a chance to enter the 2009 MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship, one of the MGA’s oldest and most prestigious events. The entry deadline is Wednesday, May 27, and the 36-hole championship will be played Tuesday, July 7 at the Links at Shirley in Shirley, N.Y. Any golfer who doesn’t have private club privileges and whose USGA Handicap Index is 8.0 or lower is eligible to enter.

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (May 19, 2009) – Amateur Paul Park of Wayne, N.J., and Anthony Casalino of Harrison, N.Y., fired rounds of two-under-par 69 to share medalist honors and lead the field of 120 players during U.S. Open Championship local qualifying held Monday, May 19 at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, N.Y. All qualifiers advance to sectional qualifying, the last stage before the 2009 U.S. Open Championship at Bethpage Black.

(May 18, 2009)Eugene Smith of Glen Ridge, N.J., fired a two-under-par 68 to claim medalist honors and lead the field of 60 players during U.S. Open Championship local qualifying held Monday, May 18 at Haworth Country Club in Haworth, N.J. All qualifiers advance to sectional qualifying, the last stage before the 2009 U.S. Open Championship at Bethpage Black.
