Title: Fellow, Member Services & Course Rating

Location: Golf Central – Elmsford, NY 10523

The Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Fellow, Member Services & Course Rating (FMS). The FMS works closely with and reports directly to the Director of Member Services, and is primarily responsible for assisting with the administration of MGA member services related to member clubs and member golfers, with emphasis on Handicapping and Course Rating programing. The FMS answers course rating related questions and works with member clubs and Association volunteers to help keep course rating information accurate and up-to-date. The FMS will also be responsible for answering questions and carrying out programs directly related to the MGA member programs and services.

Founded in 1897, the MGA is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization that provides services and programs to our member clubs (and their members). Our services include handicapping (through the USGA GHIN System), course rating, championships (some of the oldest and most prestigious in the nation), educational programs, insurance programs for clubs, administration and interpretation of the Rules of Golf and other initiatives that seek to promote interest in the game for all golfers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the liaison between the MGA Course Rating and Handicap Committee and the Association staff.

  • Schedule and coordinate course ratings, summarize results and relay results to appropriate club officials and staff personnel.

  • Promote and coordinate the MGA course measuring and yardage marking service.

  • Organize communications (including electronic mailings) to handicap chairpersons and keep them up-to-date on the USGA Handicap System.

  • ·Answer course rating and handicap inquiries and resolve these issues by using all available resources.

  • With the Director of Member Services, help conduct training seminars on the USGA Course Rating and Handicap System with special emphasis on the MGA/USGA Handicap Certification Program.

  • Assist in managing Play Days Program including but not limited to: scheduling, organizing and managing events

  • Helps build and lead Public Golf Outreach (e.g. Golf Leagues, member outreach, etc.)

  • Assist in the planning and preparation of key MGA events and golf shows (e.g. N.J., Westchester, Long Island Golf Shows)

  • Assist with other special projects related to member services as assigned by the Director of Member Services (e.g. meetings, seminars and projects)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and passion for the game of golf.

  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, telephone), public relations and organizational skills.

  • Advanced computer skills (Access, Word, Excel, and database programs) and should be proficient with internet operations.

  • Work in a fast-paced and team-oriented structure with emphasis on customer service ideals.

  • Familiarity with golf event software is a plus.

  • Ability to travel in the Tri-State area.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary range of $37,000-38,000 based on experience, education and qualifications

  • Apparel and uniforms

  • Vacation during December and January

TERM OF SERVICE

The position is a two-year appointment, after which, continued employment with the MGA will be reviewed.
