AYRSHIRE, SCOTLAND-John C. Baldwin of Meadow Brook, in Jericho, NY shot a 3-over-par 73 (35 – 38) in the opening round of the Senior British Open Championship at The Westin Turnberry Resort in Ayrshire, Scotland.  Baldwin earned his exemption into the championship with his victory in the 2002 British Seniors Open Amateur Championship.  His start puts him in a tie for 65^th place, seven strokes behind leader Tom Watson.  He is also the second low amateur, one stroke behind Arthur Pierse of Tipperary, Ireland.
