Catalioto Loses to Medalist Green in U.S. Amateur Publinx

 

Maple Grove, MN- Martin Catalioto of Ramsey, NJ lost in the first round of the U.S. Amateur Public Links to Walker Cup member Danny Green in a epic match which lasted 22 holes. Catalioto, who impressive list of MGA victories include the 1998 and 2000 MGA/MetLife Junior Championship as well as the 2001 MGA/MetLife Public Links, lost the match after making bogey on the par 4 fourth hole.

 

Green, who set a USGA and U.S. Amateur Public Links 36-hole stroke play record of 13-under-par 131 to win medalist honors, was the 1999 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion and was also runner-up at the Public Links in 2001in addition to his spot on the 2001 Walker Cup Team.

 

Other local qualifiers who failed to make it to match play include Jerry Chen (Union, NJ), Bobby Bennett (Greenwich, CT), Jonathan Blauner (Forest Hills, NY) and Yoonhwan Kim (Middle Village, NY).
