LOCALS AT THE USGA STATE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (September 14, 2007) - Several players from the Met Area will represent New York, New Jersey and Connecticut at the men’s and women’sUSGA State Team Championship, scheduled for September 18-20 at The Club at Carlton Woods outside Houston, Texas.

Representing the New York men’s team will be 2007 Havemeyer Invitational championAdam Fuchs of Hamlet Windwatch, Aaron Tallman of Soaring Eagles and Tony Hejna of Crag Burn. Cheryl Brayman of North Shore, Barbara Israel of Century and Teresa Cleland of Bellevue will represent the New York women’s side. The New Jersey women’s team consists of Donna Young of Springdale, Fran Gacos of Copper Hill and Alicia Kapheim of Hopewell Valley and 2006 MGA Senior Amateur champion Jay Blumenfeld of Mountain Ridge, Brian Komline of High Bridge Hills and Mike Deoof Montclair will represent the men’s squad. Jeff Hedden of Fox Hopyard, Bill Hermanson of Black Hall and Tom Scarrozzo of Blue Fox Run will play on the Connecticut men’s side and 2006 MGA/WMGA Women’s Public Links champion Daria Cummings of Taconic Valley GA, Lisa Fern-Boros of Sterling Farms and Debbie Jamgochian of Winged Foot are on the women’s team.

The USGA State Team Championships, begun in 1995, are played every two years and are fashioned after the World Amateur Team championships. The two lowest scores from each three-person team constitute the team score for each round. The three-day total is the team’s score for the championship. Check back next week for live scoring
