Hoffmann Earns Web.com Tour Status

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2012) - All those Monday qualifiers seem to have paid off for Met Area native Morgan Hoffmann. Needing only $2,123 to earn Special Temporary Status on the Web.com Tour, the 23-year-old finished alone in sixth place this past weekend at the WNB Golf Classic in Midland, Texas and collected $19,800. Hoffmann, who recently finished T2 at the Met Open at Plainfield, has now made a grand total of $60,970 this year on the Web.com Tour, which has him at No. 78 on the money list. This was his third top-10 finish in 2012.

The former All-America at Oklahoma State was actually leading the tournament after the second round and was only two shots back entering the final round. But a 74 (2-over) on Sunday derailed his chances of a victory. He got into the field at the WNB by way of shooting a 62 in a Monday qualifier, which was the fourth time this year he's advanced through Monday qualifying.

So what does this mean for Hoffmann? Well first, his top-25 finish gives him a spot in this week's Chiquita Classic in North Carolina. It also puts him a step closer to being in the top 60 on the money list, all of which earn spots in the Web.Com Tour Championship on Oct. 25. The top 25 finishers on the money list all earn PGA Tour cards for the 2013 season.
