88th MGA Senior Amateur Heads to Westchester

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 27, 2015) - The field is set for the 88th MGA Senior Amateur Championship with 168 of the Met Area's top senior players gearing up for the two-day event at Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y., on May 5-6 on the West Course. The weather seems to be coming around just in time for the first championship of the 2015 MGA season, which should bode well for a field full of past Senior Am Champions.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 23, 2015) - On Wednesday, April 22, Friar's Head in Riverhead, N.Y., hosted the MGA's annual Media Day in advance of the 2015 MGA Championship season, which is filled with stellar host courses all across the Met Area. One of those is Friar's Head, which will host the 60th Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship June 29-30.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 21, 2015) - A few Met Area locals took their talents to Florida for the PGA TOUR Canada Q-School-Florida tournament last week and were able to earn status thanks to some stellar play. The four day, 72 hole event took place at Panther Lake GC in Winter Garden, Fla., and leading the way was Max Buckley of Westchester for the locals. He opened the tournament with a 1-over 73, a score that could have put him well out of contention on this particular leaderboard.

That is exactly what Jennifer Rosenberg of Laurel Hollow, N.Y. (Eisenhower Park participant) and Megha Ganne of Jersey City, N.J. (Essex County participant) did yesterday.

UPDATED (April 13, 2015) - It was an incredible week for Morgan Hoffmann at his first Masters, and he finished it in style Sunday at Augusta. After opening the tournament on Thursday with a 1-over 73, Hoffmann would not go over par again the rest of the week. On Friday he would fire an even par 72 and make the cut, something not many first time participants do at The Masters. This year 20 players were competing in their first Masters, and Hoffmann was one of only eight to make it to the weekend.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 3, 2015) - Two participants of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York have qualified for the finals of the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship at Augustal National Golf Club on Sunday, April 5.

Megha Ganne of Jersey City, N.J. (Essex County participant) and Jennifer Rosenberg of Laurel Hollow, N.Y. (Eisenhower Park participant) advanced through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying to be a part of the 80 junior golfers invited to the finals at Augusta.

Svoboda has career-best finish at Zurich Classic

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 28, 2014) - New Rochelle, N.Y. native and former Met Open, Met Amateur, and Met Junior champion Andrew Svoboda had a career-best finish at the Zurich Classic this weekend. He finished T-2 with a score of 17-under for the tournament, just two strokes back of the winner Seung-Yul Noh. Svoboda shot a bogey free 8-under 64 in the first round, which tied the current course record at TPC Lousiana until Ben Martin broke the record with his 62 later in the day.
