COMMUNICATIONS FIELD TEAM INTERNSHIP


 

Position: Field Team – Communications Department (Spring/Summer 2019)

Job Description: The Metropolitan Golf Association, located in Elmsford, N.Y., is seeking Field Team members to assist the Communications Department throughout the MGA’s Championship Season. The assignments involve traveling throughout the tri-state area (can be region specific) to MGA Sectional Qualifying Rounds for Championships, as well as WGA and LIGA events, and USGA qualifying rounds conducted by the MGA to oversee the live scoring operations as well as online coverage of the event. He/she will also assist with scoring and other general tasks at MGA Championships and other events as needed.  

 

Responsibilities: 

At Sectional Qualifying Rounds:

  • Input tournament players’ scores into software for live scoring.
  • Set up TV for live leaderboard/manage physical scoreboard.
  • Publish full tournament results on www.mgagolf.org.
  • Write a brief recap of the event summarizing the day and take photos as needed.

At MGA Championships (As Needed):

  • General live scoring assistance: Collect and input scores; walk with a group for an 18-hole round and input hole-by-hole scores via tablet

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and communications skills.
  • Ability to work as a team and work closely with MGA staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work with PCs, tablets, smartphones.
  • Ability to travel by car throughout tri-state area and work long days several times a week.
  • Working knowledge of/interest in golf.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML.

 

COMPENSATION: Per diem rate per event and mileage reimbursement for travel.
