Cooper and Finn Tied for First at Hebron Day One

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (July 6th, 2023) - The 2023 Michael Hebron Amateur Championship has kicked off with a hot day at Bethpage Black. The Black Course is no stranger to tournament golf, as it has hosted two U.S. Open Championships, one PGA Championship and the 2022 Met Open.

Brett Cooper of The Seawane Club and Thomas Finn of Nassau Country Club share the lead at the end of day one with scores of  3-under 68. Cooper put on an impressive performance on the front nine, carding four birdies. The back nine consisted of two bogeys, but a solo birdie on 17 was enough to hold his spot at the top. Finn also showed up with six birdies throughout the day, with two back to back on 14 and 15. 

Cooper and Finn were the only two players to finish under par, but Ethan Myers of MGA eClub Long Island and Josh German of the Seawane Club trail 3 strokes behind at even par. Sam O’Hara of Maidstone Club follows close behind at 1-over 73.

Overall, 44 amount of players qualified for day 2 with scores of 7-over 78 or lower.
