Dylan Crowley of Glen Cove Golf Club followed up his 4-under-par round on day one with a round two score of 3-over par, carding a two day score of -1/139. Crowley is looking to win his first Long Island Open Championship. Following today’s round, Crowley discussed the changes in the course due to weather, emphasizing that “the biggest difference was the overnight rain.” He was having trouble anticipating balls running down the slopes the way he wanted to. Looking towards the final day of play tomorrow, Crowley made it clear that patience and driving the ball a little bit better will be his focus. Sitting behind Crowley is Reid Howey of Piping Rock Club who shot +1/71 on the day and sits at even par following day two.

Connor Costello of Garden City Golf Club and Clancy Waugh of Westhampton Country Club are tied for 3rd sitting at 1-over-par. Costello carded the low round of the day at Westhampton, shooting a -2/68. Waugh finished with a two day score of +1/141. When asked about his game, Waugh was very happy with his approach game and he talked about the challenges of “so many little subtleties on these greens that it’s really really hard to putt.” Waugh emphasized the importance of staying patient with the conditions of this course in order to succeed.

Howey, Costello, and Waugh will look for one last push tomorrow for the final 18 holes of the championship.

The 36-hole cut fell at 10-over par with 45 players advancing to the final round. The first tee time is set for 8:00am. However, it is subject to change depending on the weather.
