Long Island Open Day One Endures Long Rain Delays

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (June 6, 2023) - The 99th Long Island Open Championship Presented by Stifel has begun at Huntington Crescent Club. This is the third time Huntington Crescent is hosting the open, with previous championships being held in 1937 and 1978.

For the morning tee times, Paul P. Dickinson of Atlantic Golf Club is the leader in the clubhouse. Dickinson carded a 3-under 67 for the day. 6 birdies helped him take the lead going into day two. Sebastian Hutman of Deepdale Golf Club follows Dickinson with the only other sub-par score to finish today with a 1-under 69.

As for the afternoon groups, thunder and rain were on the forecast today, leading to two significant weather delays. Due to this, the afternoon tee times were unable to finish round one.

Play will resume tomorrow, beginning with the conclusion of round one at 7:15 AM. Tee times for round two will begin at 8:45 AM. Additionally, an email will be sent out including the new details. At the end of round two, 40 players plus ties will advance.
