Naples, Clifford-Levy and Estrella all Win at Smithtown Landing

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (June 21, 2023) - Anthony Naples has won the 102nd Long Island Junior Championship at Smithtown Landing Golf Course. The Boys title was claimed by Michael Clifford-Levy and Ava Estrella won the Girls Championship.

Met PGA Junior Golf Club member Anthony Naples was victorious today with the low score of the day, 1-under 71. Naples started the day off slowly, carding four pars and one bogey through the first five holes. However, a turning point came on hole six, where he was able to shoot three straight birdies to finish the front nine two under.

Naples continued his momentum, scoring three birdies to round out his game and secure his spot at the 106th Met Junior Championship Sponsored by Metlife at Echo Lake Country Club. Overall, 14 others will be joining Naples at Echo Lake.

Michael Clifford-Levy of East Hampton Golf Club finished even par to win the Long Island Boys Championship. 15 year-old Clifford-Levy carded 4 birdies, including a pair back to back on holes 13 and 14. This win secured his spot at both The 55th MGA / Metlife Boys Championship at Gardiners Bay Country Club and the Met Junior Championship.

4 others qualified for the MGA / Metlife Boys Championship, finishing with scores of 8-over 80 or lower.

Ava Estrella of Old Westbury Golf and Country Club secured her title as Long Island Girls Champion for the second straight year. The 14-year old won after a one hole playoff against Yasmina Oralkhan of Youth on Course- MGA eClub.

“It feels amazing. I’m very surprised, I started off rough and I had a rough back nine too. I started to play better because I didn’t give up. The lesson is if you don’t give up, you never know what will happen.”
