Semifinals Set For Saturday at the Richardson

 

EAST WILLISTON, N.Y. (May 5, 2023) -- The Round of 16 and Quarterfinals for the 2023 Richardson Memorial Championship Sponsored by Keystone Electronics Corp. at Wheatley Hills Golf Club have concluded, paving the way for an exciting day of matches on Saturday.

In the Championship Division, Matt Goldman of Old Westbury, Trevor Randolph of Arcola, Jack St. Clair of Sands Point and Stephen Walsh of Baltusrol all won their matches, advancing to the semifinals.

“I just love match play because I feel like I can really get after it,” Goldman said after winning his afternoon match 6 & 5. “I’m excited to be this deep in a tournament, it’s my deepest run ever in one of these, so I’m hoping to keep it going tomorrow.”

Matt Goldman will play Trevor Randolph at 7:48 a.m., and Jack St. Clair will play Stephen Walsh at 7:57 a.m.

In the Senior Division, Dave Scialabba of Meadow Brook, Alan Specht of Port Jefferson, Edward Gibstein of Glen Head, and Dennis Lynch of Baiting Hollow all won their matches, advancing to the semifinals.

“I drove the ball really well all day, I probably only missed two fairways over the 32 holes I played,” Scialabba said. “In the morning, I made a few key putts to finish with three birdies and in the afternoon, my lag putting was excellent.”

Dave Scialabba will play Alan Specht at 7:30 AM and Edward Gibstein will play Dennis Lynch at 7:39 a.m. The championship matches for both the Championship Division and Senior Division will be played Saturday afternoon after the conclusion of the semifinals.
