Two of Long Island’s oldest courses, Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y. and Wheatley Hills Golf Club have been mainstays on the tournament schedule and will host this year’s Long Island Open Championship and Long Island Amateur Championship, respectively.

Nassau will welcome back the Long Island Open for the third time, most recently hosting the event in 2007. Prior to its hosting of the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur, the club’s greens were rebuilt and now provide some of the finest putting surfaces in the Met Area which are sure to provide a test at this year’s championship, June 5-7.

The Long Island Amateur returns to a familiar location in Wheatley Hills, as the club has hosted the championship on seven prior occasions. The LIGA’s premiere amateur match play event will take place June 19-22.

Other highlight stops on this year’s schedule include Bethpage Black for the Michael Hebron Amateur Championship, July 30-31 and Seawane Club for the season-ending Richardson Memorial Championship, October 18-20.

As part of the new collaboration with the Metropolitan Golf Association, the 2018 season marks the first year that championships will be conducted by the MGA on behalf of the LIGA. As part of this new partnership, the Father & Son Championship and Mixed Pinehurst Championship will each be contested jointly with the MGA and Westchester Golf Association, taking place July 30 at Nissequogue Golf Club in St. James, N.Y., and August 14 at Glen Ridge Country Club in Glen Ridge, N.J., respectively.

Registration, scheduled to open on March 1 for all events, will be completed through a new platform—USGA Tournament Management powered by Golf Genius—for competitors beginning in 2018. Players will have to register on the platform and create a profile in order to sign up for events. The platform also provides each championship with its own portal, which introduces a new look for leaderboards and live scoring.

Any questions regarding the 2018 LIGA championship schedule or the new registration process may be directed to the MGA’s Championship Department at 914-347-4653.
