Baldwin Captures New York State Senior Amateur Championship

Niagara Falls, NY….Former MGA President John Baldwin of The Meadow Brook  Club on Long Island, fired rounds of 72-69-72 for a three-over par total of 213 to capture his first New York State Senior Amateur Championship held at Niagara Falls Country Club in Niagara Falls, NY.

Baldwin, a former Met Amateur and Ike champion, joined Don Allen of The Country Club of Rochester as the only player to win the New York State Men’s Amateur (’67), Mid-Amateur (’91) and Senior Amateur Championships.  His closest competition came from Fred Silver of the host club who finished second, six shots back of Baldwin.

Southampton Golf Club’s Eugene Piwowar finished second in the Super Senior Division (65 and up) after carding rounds of 79-79-80 for a total of 238 to finish six shots back of Super Senior champion Coville Windsor of Wayne Hills CC.
