WAGNER, OTHER LOCAL PLAYERS SUCCEEDING ON PRO TOURS; Q-SCHOOLS SET TO BEGIN

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (October 24, 2007) - Former MGA standout Johnson Wagner has two weeks remaining in the PGA Tour season to secure his card for 2008 and avoid going to Q-School. Wagner is in 95th place on the PGA Tour money list, and the top 125 retain their playing privileges for next season. On other Tours, local players are also fighting for their professional futures. The following is a roundup of the players with local ties on all four major professional Tours.

PGA TOUR: J.J. Henry (Fairfield, Conn.) is exempt for 2008 due to his win at the 2006 Buick Championship in Hartford. Johnson Wagner (five-time MGA major champion) is currently within the top 125 on the money list with two weeks to go in the season, and is in good position to have full PGA Tour status in 2008. The PGA Tour Qualifying School is currently in its first stage, with the second stage scheduled for mid-November and the final stage set for November 28 through December 3 at Orange County National Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Click here for complete Q-School coverage.

LPGA TOUR: Meaghan Francella (Port Chester, N.Y.) is exempt for the LPGA through 2009 due to her win this past March at the MasterCard Classic in Mexico City. Diana D’Alessio (Wayne, N.J.) is currently 52nd on the LPGA money list with three weeks left in the season, and is virtually assured of keeping her LPGA Tour card for 2008. Heather Daly-Donofrio (New Haven, Conn.) is 134th on the money list and will likely have to earn her card at LPGA Qualifying School this fall. The final stage of LPGA Q-School will be held November 28 through December 2 at LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida. Click here for complete LPGA Q-School coverage.

NATIONWIDE TOUR: With two weeks to go in the season, Chris Nallen (Hackettstown, N.J.), Jim McGovern (Oradell, N.J.), and Marc Turnesa (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) are all within the top 50 on the Nationwide Tour money list. The top 25 finishers earn an automatic promotion to the PGA Tour in 2008. Players who do not finish in the top 25 can attempt to earn their PGA Tour card in PGA Tour Qualifying School this fall, or play the Nationwide Tour again next year.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Jim Albus (Staten Island, N.Y.) is 98th on the Champions Tour money list and is not in the field for the last official event of the season. Albus is exempt for the Champions Tour based on his career earnings. The final stage of Champions Tour Qualifying School will take place November 13 through 16 at TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, Florida. Click here for complete Champions Tour Q-School coverage.
