The Met Golfer Wins Four Awards for Editorial Excellence

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 6, 2009)   Solidifying its position as the country’s finest regional golf publication, The Met Golfer won four Outstanding Achiever awards in four different categories at the International Network of Golf’s (ING) 16th Annual Media Awards on January 29 at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla. The Met Golfer, the official publication of the Metropolitan Golf Association, reaches more than 100,000 households in the Met Area.

The winning authors were John Steinbreder in the Business Writing category for “Clubs at the Crossroads” (April/May 2008), Jimmy Roberts for Opinion Writing with “No Medal Spikes” (August/September 2008), James A. Frank for Profile Writing for “Man of the Times” (December 2007/January 2008), and Brian McCallen for Travel Writing with “Nature Valley,” a story about New Jersey’s Crystal Springs Resort, which ran in the August/September 2008 issue. This marked the first time The Met Golfer has been recognized by ING, which awarded 25 Outstanding Achievers prizes in 13 different categories, with more than 160 total articles entered.

Editor Greg Midland, who attended the awards presentation at the Orlando Convention Center, remarked, “It is very gratifying to see The Met Golfer, and the writers who put so much effort into their stories, receive this type of recognition. We at the Metropolitan Golf Association are excited to continue to produce a top-quality magazine for our readers in the New York metropolitan area, and we thank the ING for all they do on behalf of golf.”
