Met Area Pros on the Winter Tours

ELMSFORD, N.Y. Steve Shellock (left) of Shrewsbury, N.J., finished second at the NGA Classic on March 8, the first event on the Pro Series schedule for the NGA Hooters Tour (Final Results). Shellock, who finished t-8 at the Ike Championship in 2006, put himself in position to win with a third-round 61, but came up two strokes short. On the Gateway Tour in Florida, a trio of Met Area players performed well in the season-ending Winter Series Championship on March 4-7 in Queens Creek, Fla. (Final Results) Former New York State Open champion Jimmy Hazen of St. George’s finished t-27, 2005 Met Open champ John Stoltz of the Concord finished t-42 and Andrew Giuliani, the 2007 MGA Player of the Year from Van Cortland Park, finished t-75. All three players posted strong finishes on the Gateway Tour’s Winter Series Money List. Stoltz led the way with a 10th place finish ($14,749), followed by Giuliani in 13th place ($11,583) and Hazen in 20th place ($9,850).
