Packanack Duo Wins MGA Senior Net Four-Ball

May 11, 2009 – The Packanack Golf Club team of Steven Dalane and Terrence Fitzpatrick fired a eight-under-par net 64 to capture the 17th MGA Senior Net Four-Ball Tournament title on Monday, May 11 at Salem Golf Club in North Salem, N.Y. The team finished in a tie with Scott MacEwan and Michael Calaluca of Osiris Country Club, who also shot a net 64 in the afternoon. The tie was broken by the total age of the players, with the Packanack team being younger.

John Gonser and Thomas Lomot of Port Jefferson fired a net 65 to finish one stroke behind Packanack and in third place. Six teams finished tied for fourth place with rounds of net 66, including Dick Bestler and Donald Persia of the Brentwood Men’s Club and Aspetuck Valley Country Club’s Thomas Sheridan and Bruce Ryan. Paul Cioffari and Miroslav Fajt of Innis Arden Country Club and Robert Korowicki and Joe Gullotta of North Jersey Country Club were among six teams to finish tied for tenth place after rounds of five-under-par 67. Defending champions Frank Hendricks and Tom Yates of Sterling Farms Golf Club carded a one-over-par 73 to finish in a tie for 58th place.

Today’s event was conducted by the Metropolitan Golf Association. The event is open to male amateur golfers who have reached 50 years of age by May 9, 2009 and maintain a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.0.
