Caddie Academies Underway at Met Area Clubs

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 14, 2010) – The MGA Foundation’s popular spring Caddie Academies are underway at clubs across the Met Area. Caddie Academies provide young men and women with the opportunity to learn the basics needed to work as a caddie, one of the most integral employment opportunities in Met Area golf. With over 400 participants in 2009, Caddie Academies are one of the many successful programs conducted during the season by the MGA Foundation. These instructional academies are conducted by members of the MGA staff with the help of local caddie masters and golf professionals who volunteer their time.

Westchester Country Club in Harrison, N.Y., hosted the first Caddie Academy of 2010 on April 5. This always popular venue was attended by more than 75 participants and local caddie masters, who instructed the attendees on the basics of being a caddie. Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., site of the 2009 Met Open Championship, hosted the April 6 Caddie Academy and was followed by Rockrimmon Country Club in Stamford, Conn., on April 7. Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown, N.J., and Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y., hosted the most recent Caddie Academies on April 12 and 13, respectively.

There are only three Caddie Academies left in 2010 so be sure to contact Brian Farrelly (bfarrelly@mgagolf.org) at 914-347-4653 to sign up today.
