Rubeo's Win Father & Son Net Tournament

OLD BRIDGE, N.J. (August 16, 2010) – Peter RubeoJr. and Peter Rubeo III of Mohansic and Sprain Lake, respectively, carded a net score of 8-under-par 64 today to win the 21st MGA Father & Son Net Tournament at Glenwood Country Club in Old Bridge, N.J. The tandem of Jeffrey & Eric Salizzoni of White Beeches shot a gross score of 70 to win the category of low gross. The Rubeo’s bested 41 other father-son teams from across the Met Area, and it marked the fifth MGA championship for the elder Rubeo, who has four MGA/MetLife Men’s Net Team titles to his name.

The Salizzoni’s came in with a net 65, but because of their low gross finish, the second place net prize went to Orry & Ryan Dubois of Packanack. The Dubois team finished with a net 66, beating out Robert & James Anderson of Beacon Hill on a match of cards for the second place prize. Earning the prize for fourth place was Donald & Donald Cervantes of Bethpage.

All teams played under the Pinehurst scoring format: Both players hit drives, then each plays a second shot with the other’s ball. After the second shot, a choice is made regarding the ball with which the hole will be completed. Alternate shots are then continued into the hole. On par-three holes, the choice must be made after the tee shots. For more information on the 21st MGA Father & Son Net Tournament please visit www.mgagolf.org
