Johnson Wagner Fighting to Keep PGA Tour Card

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 14, 2010) – Two years after winning his first PGA Tour event, former Met Area resident Johnson Wagner showed plenty of fight in his effort to keep his PGA Tour card at the season-ending Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. The five-time MGA major champion tied for third in the tournament, shooting a final-round 67, and tied for third.

Unfortunately for Wagner, it wasn’t quite enough to avoid a trip to PGA Tour Q-School. Wagner earned $244,400 in the season-ending Disney tournament, jumping him 27 spots to 126th on the money list. The top 125 players retain their cards for 2011.

Despite finishing one spot outside the top 125, Wagner did help himself this weekend by finishing in the top 150 on the money list, which exempts him into the final stage of Q-School. Wagner entered the week at 153rd on the money list, putting him in danger of having to compete in Q-School’s second stage, which begins on November 16.
