16 Met Area Courses Make Golf Digest's 100 Greatest List

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (Jan. 3, 2013) - MGA Member clubs are once again well represented on Golf Digest's annual America's 100 Best Golf Courses rankings. A grand total of 16 courses made the list, including a few newcomers.

Baltusrol Golf Club's Upper Course and Quaker Ridge Golf Club are both new to the 2013-14 rankings. Baltusrol plays host to the annual Carter Cup (Junior Stroke Play Championship) every August. 

Winged Foot's East Course, which will host the 100th Met Open in 2015, made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving up 21 spots. Plainfield Country Club, site of the 2012 Met Open won by Danny Balin, jumped up 11 spots. 

In addition to Plainfield and Baltusrol, Sebonack Golf Club and Bethpage Black also hosted MGA championships in 2012 (French-American Challenge at Sebonack, MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship at Bethpage).

No. 42: Bethpage Black Course (previously No. 36)

No. 55: Garden City Golf Club (previously No. 53)

No. 59: Baltusrol Golf Club Upper (new to rankings)

No. 65: Plainfield Country Club (previously No. 76)

No. 69: Quaker Ridge Golf Club (last ranked in 2010)

No. 76: Winged Foot Golf Club East (previously No. 97)

No. 90: Hudson National Golf Club (previously No. 83)

No. 95: Somerset Hills Golf Club (previously T93)

No. 100: Maidstone Club (previously T93)
