18-Hole Playoff Will Determine 24th MGA Father & Son Net Champions

HAWORTH, N.J. (August 15th, 2013) –Today at the 24th MGA Father Son Net Championship at White Beeches Golf and Country Club in Haworth, N.J., there was a tie in the amateur division for low net winner, setting up an 18-hole playoff to be determined at a later date. Prizes were awarded for the low net, low net runner-up and third place for the amateur division. There is also a Low Gross prize and a prize for the Pro division, for first place and runner-up.

A total of 81 father and son teams competed in the pinehurst format on a beautiful August day that allowed for perfect scoring conditions. At the end of the round it was Tom and Michael Karger of Century and Joseph and Joseph Moretti left standing at the top with Net scores of 6-under 66s. They will face-off for the Championship in an 18-hole playoff.          

Coming in third place in the net amateur division was Mark and Daniel Wilf of Mountain Ridge and Hollywood, shooting a net score of 5-under 67.

The low gross winners with an excellent team score of even-par 72 was Jeffrey and Blake Waaland of Otterkill, which gave them a net score of 4-under 68.

In the professional division it was the home team of Brian and Wayne Mackey of White Beeches firing a 1-over 73 gross score. Finishing three shots behind them in the runner-up spot was Peter and Stephen Busch of Galloping Hill and MGA eClub – New Jersey.
