ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 19, 2013) - Led by the stellar play of Alice Chen of Princeton, N.J., the team from the Garden State was able to capture the USGA Women's State Team Championship on Thursday at NCR Country Club (par 73) in Kettering, Ohio. Chen's three round scores of 72-67-75 (-6) were good enough to share individual honors with Bryana Nguyen of Maryland as well. Ha ended up finishing T29 in the individual portion (79-81-75) but her final round 75 is what helped seal the deal for New Jersey.

This was the 10th playing of the biennial competition, which involves three-person teams in a 3-count-2 stroke-play format for 54 holes. Fleming's second round 79, in conjunction with Chen's impressive 67, gave the ladies a share of the lead heading into the final day.

If you remember last year, the New York team was able to capture the Men's State Team Championship, led by two-time reigning MGA Player of the Year Mike Miller (who also finished as the individual medalist).
