MGA/MetLife Clinic Visits Trump-Bedminster

Bedminster, N.J. (August 18, 2014)– Trump National—Bedminster, site of this year's Met Open, hosted a group of 45 enthusiastic junior golfers from The First Tee of Metropolitan New York on Monday, August 18, for the third installment of this year’s MGA/MetLife Youth Clinics. The clinic was held in conjunction with the Caddie Scholarship Pro-Am at the 99th Met Open Championship. The youngsters were from The First Tee Plainfield—West 9, who were joined by MetLife’s friendly canine mascot, Snoopy, for a day of fun and instruction, as well as a meet-and-greet and photo with real estate mogul and Trump National founder, Donald Trump.

Instruction was moderated by Trump National—Bedminster Professional Debby Murphy and The First Tee at Plainfield—West 9 Program Director Bill Castner. Participants enjoyed full-swing instruction along with distance control on the practice greens. They also went through a Physical Fitness Exercise & Well Being obstacle course, which was designed to make the young golfers use different physical movements to give them feel for techniques of the golf swing and endurance for walking an 18-hole round of golf. In addition, the youngsters had the opportunity to work on their short games on Trump National’s expansive pitching course, putting their skills to the test while playing a six-hole course.

Pictures with Snoopy and some friendly competition were all part of the day, as well as a visit from Mr. Trump himself and an up-close look at Donald’s personal helicopter. “I know you’re all going to be successful and join a club like this one day,” Trump told the kids after posing for some photos.

A fun day was had by all in the final MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic of 2014, which are conducted as part of a series of youth diversity initiatives by MetLife – the Official Supporter of the MGA Foundation. Earlier events this year were held at the USGA’s Golf House headquarters in Far Hills, N.J. and at Giants Training Camp at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
