Bernstein Holds a one shot lead at the end of the second round

WEST ORANGE, N.J. (June 24, 2014) - The final round of the 59th Ike Championship is shaping up to be quite the finish. Montclair Golf Club flexed it's muscle this morning and yielded just two under par rounds. The leader at the end of the first round was Sam Bernstein of Century and despite carding a 4-over 74 in his second round, he holds that one shot lead at even par for the championship.

Close behind is Matthew Lowe of Colonial Springs, who fired a 2-under 68, positioning himself at 1-over for the championship, just a shot back of Bernstein. The other under par round came from 2010 Carter Cup Champion David Pastore of MGA eClub - West/Fairfield. Pastore shot a 1-under 69 which ties him with Lowe for second at 1-over for the championship.

Mike Stamberger of Plainfield matched Bernstein's score of 4-over 74 this morning, putting him also at 1-over for the championship, tied with Pastore and Lowe. After a 3-under 32 front nine for Brian Komline of Black Oak, he struggled on the back and finished with a 3-over 73. Komline is still very much in the tournament though, and stands just two shots back of Bernstein at 2-over.
