Winged Foot Hosts Successful MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic

Mamaroneck, N.Y. (August 25, 2015)– Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., site of this year's 100th Met Open, hosted a group of approximately 45 enthusiastic junior golfers from The First Tee of Metropolitan New York on Monday, August 24, for the final installment of this year’s MGA/MetLife Youth Clinics. The clinic was held in conjunction with the Caddie Scholarship Pro-Am at the 100th Met Open Championship. The participants traveled from The First Tee of Westchester County, The First Tee at Mosholu, and The First Tee at Fairchild Wheeler to be a part of the day. Instruction was provided by Winged Foot Professionals, Katie Wiedmar and Garrett Rodgers, as well as Rodean Minto, Program Manager at The First Tee at Fairchild Wheeler.

Participants were greeted in Winged Foot’s Clubhouse by MetLife’s affable mascot, Snoopy, who joined the children in their lessons and took many pictures with delighted youngsters throughout the afternoon. Participants enjoyed driving and putting instruction on Winged Foot’s driving range and practice putting green, as well as chipping lesson’s on the Club’s short game area. It was an afternoon of golf enjoyed by all, as participants were given the rare opportunity to sharpen their golf skills at one of the Nation’s premiere venues. Winged Foot’s West Course played host to the U.S. Open in 1929, 1959, 1974, 1984, 2006, and is set to do so again in 2020.
