ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 10, 2015) – The golf season has reached its peak and with approximately a month remaining in the MGA’s tournament schedule, Cameron Young of Sleepy Hollow owns a commanding lead in the race for the 2015 MGA Jerry Courville Sr. Player of the Year Award.

Young, who at just 18-years old has already appeared on the MGA Player of the Year Honor Roll four times, has accumulated 1133 points through September 9 and currently leads Ryan Snouffer of Essex County by more than 500 points.

After winning the Ike in late June, Young—now in his first year of college at Wake Forest—posted high finishes throughout the summer on local, state and even the national level at the U.S. Amateur to continue collecting points. A tie for fifth at the 100th Met Open concluded Young’s summer tour, as he racked up 262.5 points as the low amateur to extend his lead.

Meanwhile, Snouffer’s performance in MGA majors, including a runner-up finish at the 113th Met Amateur and a tie third at the Ike, have led to his collection total.

Two more collegiate golfers, Richmond’s Matt Lowe of Colonial Springs and Duke’s Max Greyserman of Crestmont, rank third and fifth, respectively. Stewart Hagestad of Deepdale has quickly jumped into the area’s golf scene, as the former USC golfer stands fourth in the race and still has an opportunity to make a move.

Familiar names round out the current top ten: Brian Komline of Black Oak, Sam Bernstein of Century, Luke Feehan of Mahopac, Joe Saladino of Huntington and Trevor Randolph of Arcola.

With many points still up for grabs, be sure to continue following the race on www.mgagolf.org over the next month.
