6 Punch Tickets to the Public Links from Philip J. Rotella
THIELLS, N.Y. (May 23, 2018) – Six players advanced from a sectional qualifying round for the 71st MGA Public Links Championship at Philip J. Rotella Municipal Golf Course in Thiells, New York. Devlin Walsh of Shawangunk earned medalist honors on the day with a round of 1-under 71.

Fresh off a medalist finish at the 63rd Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship sectional qualifier at Redding Country Club yesterday, Walsh continued his hot streak with a round that featured four birdies on the inward nine.
Michael Fisher of McCann finished directly behind Walsh with a round of 3-over 75. Fisher’s strong inward nine, which included birdies on both the par-3s, brought him towards the top of the leaderboard.
Two players safely qualified with rounds of 4-over 76, Matt Biehle of West Point and David Peng of Griff Harris.
Jim Hamburger of McCann and Sean Campbell of Rotella were able to grab the final qualifying spots with rounds of 5-over 77.
Philip J. Rotella Municipal Golf Course played to a par 72 at 6,353 yards.
There will be two more qualifiers conducted by the MGA in order to finalize the competitors of the Public Links Championship, with the next one being held at the Rockleigh Golf Course in Rockleigh, New York on May 29th. The final qualifier will be at Bethpage State Park Golf Course (Blue) in Farmingdale, New York on May 31st.
