Linn and Eaton Win MGA Senior Net Four-Ball
Lawrence, N.Y. - 170 Golfers competed on Thursday in the 27th MGA Senior Net Four-Ball Tournament at Lawrence Yacht and Country Club. The two-man teams were competing for net and gross prizes. Challenging course conditions demanded the players to put the ball in the right spots in order to score well.
Graham Linn and Joe Eaton from Thistle Golf Club found plenty of scoring opportunities and posted an 11-under 59 to win Low Net for the tournament.
They were followed closely by Gerry Purcell and Tim Macken from Darlington Golf Course with a 10-under 60 late in the afternoon to come within one shot of the leaders and win the Second Low Net prize. They were followed by Raymond Hubbs and Steve Webber from Smithtown Landing Golf Club. Hubbs and Webber carded an 8-under 61 to the Third Low Net prize. They were joined in the winners circle by Richard Sneider and Gustav Talleur from Kings Park Golf Association and Mohansic Golf Club who teamed up with card a 69 and take home the Low Gross prize. Lawrence, located in Nassau County on Long Island, demanded precision and accuracy from the players, playing as a par 70 at 6,029 yards.
