Miller, Stoltz Medal, Lead 5 Qualifiers from Mount Kisco

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. (May 8, 2018) – Two-time MGA Player of the Year Michael Miller of Brewster, N.Y., and 2005 Met Open champion John Stoltz of West Orange, N.J., shared medalist honors on Tuesday at Mount Kisco Golf Club, leading five competitors who advanced from the day’s U.S. Open local qualifying round.

By claiming the spot, Miller continues his recent success in which he has logged a number of top finishes on the Minor League Golf Tour in Florida and claimed a T-11 finish in the web.com TOUR’s United Leasing & Finance Championship.

Coming in close behind was Pelham Country Club assistant pro Mitch Gray of Pelham, N.Y. with a round of 1-under 70.

Gregory Bisconti of South Salem, N.Y., the head golf professional at The Saint Andrew’s Golf Club, and 17-year-old amateur Turner Foster of East Hampton, N.Y. earned the final two qualifying positions by carding even-par 71s. Foster’s father, Eden, is the head golf professional at Maidstone Club.

A playoff determined the alternate positions with John Dipilato of West Harrison, N.Y., taking the first alternate spot. Joseph Gothmann of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., claimed the second alternate spot.

The MGA's final U.S. Open local qualifying round will take place Wednesday, May 16 at Cherry Valley Club in Garden City, N.Y. The MGA then conducts a U.S. Open sectional qualifying round on Monday, June 4 at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J.
