Coming in just one stroke behind the winners was Terri Lyman and Geri Mechutan of the Blue Hill Golf Association with a score of net 5-under 69.

Five teams finished with scores of net 4-under 70, but after a match of cards it was determined that last year’s winners, Cathy Moon and Bea Prokop of Casperkill, would take home the third place prize.

This year’s championship round was postponed due to inclement weather on its original date, October 10, but today’s clear and sunny weather provided ideal fall conditions for the 30 two-woman teams.

The MGA/MetLife Women’s Net Team Championship has grown in popularity since its inception in 1985, and teams have to first qualify on the club level and then at one of three sectional qualifying rounds. The format for the qualifying rounds as well as the championship was 18 holes of stroke play on a net better-ball basis, with the women competing at 95 percent of their course handicaps.

For Tuesday's championship at Twin Brooks, the course played to 5,443 yards with a par of 37-37-74, and the challenging layout  provided an excellent test for the championship round.
