Qualifying: 121st U.S. Amateur Championship

The MGA will conduct a total of four Sectional Qualifying Rounds for the 121st U.S. Amateur Championship at Oakmont Country Club, just outside Pittsburgh, Pa. Qualifying in the Met Area takes place July 6 - July 19. Each qualifier is 36 holes. 

July 6 - Brookville Country Club, Old Brookville, N.Y.
Qualifying Positions: 2 & 2 alternates
William Parker of Glen Cove, N.Y., and Chris Lambrou of Baldwin, N.Y., punched their tickets to Oakmont after both finished at even-par for the day. Parker shot 70-70 with birdies on holes 9 and 17 each round. Lambrou avoided a playoff thanks to birdies on 16 and 18 in the afternoon round. Darin Goldstein of New York, N.Y. (68-73-141) is the first alternate and Kona Kashigawi of Brookville, N.Y., (71-71-142) is the second alternate.

July 6 - Manhattan Woods Golf Club, Pearl River, N.Y.
Qualifying Positions: 2 & 2 alternates
Brett Inserra of Upper Saddle River, NJ, and Nolan Forsman of Larchmont, N.Y., battled through tough winds and a suspension of play due to weather to qualify for the 121st U.S. Amateur Championship. Inserra was steady through the 36 holes, posting the low round of qualifying at -2 (71-71-142). Inserra posted two of the seven 71's on the day, the lowest round of the qualifier. Forsman completed a strong second 18, finishing E for the qualifier. He birdied three holes during his final round of the day. David Weisfeld of Miami Beach, FL (73-72-145) was able to claim the first alternate position after a battle with Logan Paczewski of Dallas, PA (74-71-145) in a playoff.

July 15 - Bedens Brook Golf Club, Montgomery Township, N.J.
Qualifying Positions: 2 & 2 alternates
Sixteen-year-old Reed Greyserman of Short Hills, N.J., fired a pair of 68s for an impresive 8-under total to advance to Oakmont from Bedens Brook. Greyserman, a two-time MGA/MetLife Boys Championship winner, had just two bogeys on the day to go along with 10 birdies as he bested the field by four shots. Sam Goldenring of Florham Park, N.J., captured the second qualifying position, defeating Campbell Wofl of Mechanicsburg, Pa., on the second playoff hole after both players carded 4-under totals over the 36 holes. Wolf took the first alternate slot while Michael O'Brien of West Chester, Ohio claimed the second alternate position.
