Volunteers: A Vital Part of the MGA

Serving on the Rules & Competitions Committee is one way of volunteering with the MGA.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 19, 2021) -- With National Volunteer Week taking place April 18-24, what better opportunity to highlight and thank the MGA's dedicated volunteer corps than just as the golf season begins to pick up in the Met Area.

While the golf season may be early, many MGA volunteers have already jumped into their duties for the 2021 season. They have attended Rules of Golf seminars and taken exams to prepare for the championship season, brushed up on the Course Rating system prior to fulfilling a service essential to the World Handicap System that allows players to compete fairly, and helped plan for the upcoming year in many other ways.

The MGA greatly appreciates its nearly 400 volunteers that bring unmatched dedication and enthusiasm to serving the game of golf in the region. The 2020 season brought on tougher-than-usual circumstances for everyone, but the MGA's volunteers rose to the occasion and selflessly continued to donate their time, energy and expertise to give back. These passionate men and women serve on committees for Rules, Course Rating, Editorial, Championships, Finance and more. They also provide outstanding leadership on the MGA's Management and Executive Committees and Foundation Board of Directors.

The MGA thanks all of its volunteers for their service and love for the game.
