25 Advance to Ike from Deal G&CC

DEAL, N.J. (May 21, 2018) – Deal Golf & Country Club hosted the third sectional qualifying round for the 63rd MGA Ike Stroke Play Championship Presented by Callaway on Monday. A total of 25 players qualified from a starting field of 140, led by Johnny Schob of Winged Foot and Thomas Guy of Eligo.

The co-medalists shot matching 1-under 70s to lead the field heading into the MGA’s first major of the year, which will be held at the Meadow Brook Club in Jericho, N.Y., June 25-26.

Just one shot back of the medalists were Vince Kwon of MGA eClub – New Jersey, Michael Stamberger of Spring Lake, and Max Theodorakis of Ridgewood (CT) at even par 71.

Hunter Ramee of Architects, Jason Bataille of MGA eClub – New Jersey and Jeremy Wall of Manasquan River safely qualified with rounds of 1-over 72.

Eleven players punched their tickets to the championship with rounds of 2-over 73: Daniel Macdonald of Arcola, Kellen Jordan of Spring Lake, Anthony Campanile of Deal, Dylan Stein of Stanton Ridge, Mark Benevento, Jr. of Galloway National, Paul Ulanich of South Shore, Mike Paduano of Eagle Oaks, John Havay of High Bridge Hills, Drake Ferriter of Winged Foot, James McHugh of Rye and Ben Steenland of Spring Lake

Grabbing the last qualifying positions at 3-over 74 were Jim Dufficy of Eagle Oaks, Michael Winter of MGA eClub – New Jersey, Dean Cerimido of Glen Ridge, Cody Cox of MGA eClub – Hudson Valley, Jack Maerki of Bethpage State Park and Bobby Weise of Eagle Oaks.

Deal Golf & Country Club played to a par 71 at 6,252 yards.

The MGA will conduct three additional qualifiers to complete the field for the Ike Championship, with the next one taking place May 22 at Redding Country Club in West Redding, Conn. For complete details and qualifying information, visit mgagolf.org.
